We hope you all had a refreshing and enjoyable winter break! Quarter 2 ends next Thursday, January 10. Make sure to communicate with teachers to get all missing work and tests made up. Let's end this term strong!!
Remember that homework help is available after school, Monday-Thursday from 2:55-5:00 pm. Take advantage! Counselors are finalizing schedules and making sure that all students' schedules are complete. Please note that that there will be very few elective changes, as all elective classes are full at this time, due to having to dissolve some sections of Health and PE as we did in first semester. Unless there is an error with a level, teacher, or you are missing a core class, requests for changes will not be accepted. Thank you!

Friday is 8th Grade Reality Town and 7th Grade CTE Day. Each grade will be doing an activity to help them explore college and career. Please click HERE to go over the Reality Town orientation presentation to make sure your 8th grader is prepared for the procedure on Friday.
Reality Town is an educational program designed to give junior high school students a realistic financial experience. Teens learn what it takes to live independently and support a family with a career chosen based on the student’s current Grade Point Average. Students are instructed to make financial decisions regarding their Reality Town family and their monthly expenditures as they visit 22 different businesses including groceries, housing, transportation, medical office, child care, and more. Each student’s task is to balance their budget and live within their means. It is our hope that Kennedy students will learn more about financial literacy and connect the value of education as it relates to future careers and earning power. We apologize for the long absence. It has been a crazy year so far -- major changes with scheduling and welcoming a new principal and teachers to our Kennedy Jr. family.
Mr. Barnum and Ms. Owens are attending the USCA (Utah School Counselor Association) conference today and tomorrow. They both serve on the association's board and work hard to keep their own professional training up-to-date, and to help all school counselors in Utah do the same, so that students are able to receive the best resources and supports possible! Please remember to sign up for your College and Career Readiness Plan meetings. There are appointments available through mid-December, but you must sign up by October 17 to select your appointment. After October 17, students and parents will be assigned an appointment. Finally, the end of the quarter is October 25!! Make sure you are speaking with teachers and your counselors to make sure those report cards are in good shape! The highly anticipated next season of 13 Reasons Why will be airing on Netflix on May 18th. Due to the sensitive nature of its content, we have many resources for you to have open, informative, meaningful, and transparent conversations with your parents, or, vice-versa, with your children. The following document contains resources, links, and videos with helpful information on suicide prevention and how to discuss/address the concerns, issues, and questions that the show may bring to light. You can download it to access all the resources at your convenience.
Please make sure to sign up for your College & Career Readiness Plan meeting with your student and counselor HERE.
